The best book about learning Italian. I have 2 books by Marcel Danesi, Ph.D., Gramma, and Italian Demystified, good books.I have a few others but the "Dummies" is much superior to anything I have the only inconvenience is that the paper is very cheap and easy to tear a page. And there are no exercises but the material about the language is extremely well explained with some nuances that I not even heard from my 2 Italian teachers.In my opinion, there is nothing better to study the language.
My husband is Italian and he said the book is full of mistakes and when it comes to translate in English some of the Italian sayings, the author actually translated it wrong. Very poor and not worth the money. So now I have to buy a good book to compensate.
The grammar explanations are easy to understand, but I was hoping for more exercises. There are only a few.
This book was recommended by the local CERTIFIED COURT TRANSLATOR as the "go-to book" for beginners.Perfect for my family as we're studying Italian.Definitely worth EVERY penny!Deliver quickly and is perfect shape!
This is an excellent aid to learning italian. Took private lessons for 3+ years and have used many other texts. This, and the little book by Olga Ragusa are certainly the best.
I've been trying to learn Italian because I want to watch Italian films. (I am Italian.) I've tried Babbel and another free on-line learning package, but it's very slow and tedious. I don't want to spend weeks learning how to buy clothes, cook dinner, or say hello to students. This Dummy book has it up front. I will be saving lots of time. Maybe be able to read the papers too.
This a 600+ page book and I have only done first chapter but I like it. I have skimmed through the other chapters as well and they look good as well. Great resource to use with DVDs or CDs to actually hear the pronunciation.
So far, so good. I like that the book gives you real phrases. Also, since I bought the Kindle edition, it gives you links where you can actually hear is spoken. Looking forward to trying out my Italian in Italy next year.
